MYTHOS: Sydney Comedy Festival

Tickets on sale now.

Alice Fraser (The Bugle, Trollplay, Tea with Alice) could do a lot of stuff, if she could decide what to do. A show that picks a line and sticks to it, and does a lot of other things en route.

Comedian, writer, podcaster and The Bugle (UK) podcast regular Alice is a word geek, polymath and ex-corporate lawyer. That’s quite a lot of stuff right there. Insatiable academic Alice studied law at Sydney University and English Literature (Rhetoric) at Cambridge before working as a lawyer in New York City.  When she found herself spending more time writing jokes than litigation; Alice realised that the funny stuff was far more exciting to her than the legal stuff.

Alice has taken her passion for comedy, writing and performing around the world - with sold-out shows from Edinburgh to London, New York to Cambridge and many places in between. Consistently selling out seasons at comedy festivals across Australia and the Edinburgh Fringe, critical comparisons to Daniel Kitson and her brilliant guest spots on British comedy podcast The Bugle have earned Alice a ferocious cult following.

At the 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Alice performed her three previous years’ shows (Savage, The Resistance and Ethos) back-to-back as Trilogy, to a full house and standing ovation at Melbourne Town Hall.  Alice subsequently took the Trilogy to London and the Edinburgh Fringe before the ABC released The Alice Fraser Trilogy in podcast form using binaural sound.

In her new comedic masterpiece Mythos, Alice takes on the stories and lies that we tell ourselves about ourselves. Is beauty truth? Is truth beautiful? What does anything mean any more? Let Alice tell you. Why not.

Alice Fraser at Curious Arts Festival

Tickets here.

Curious is a festival like no other. Taking place from 20-22 July 2018 in the breathtaking grounds of Pylewell Park in the heart of the New Forest, it is dreamy, eccentric, fun and ultimately, irresistible.

It’s very English on the one hand – expect fabulous novelists, exceptional historians, poet laureates, dogs on leads, gin and tonics, and sitting on a deckchair with a view of the Solent although you are just as likely to find yourself on a secret midnight bat-walk, betting your life-savings on the snail-racing, laughing out loud to mesmerising stand-up comedy, or listening to some of the UK’s most exciting musicians.

Curious is an experience not just a few tents in a field. Book your ticket now!

The Trilogy: Museum of Comedy, London

Heard of a play within a play? What about three hour-long, critically-acclaimed comedy shows in one three-hour-long comedy show (with two humane intervals).

Savage: 5:00pm

In 2015 Alice Fraser (Radio Four, co-host of 'The Bugle' podcast) unleashed Savage onto comedy festivals around the world. The show detailing love, anger and belief made audiences laugh, cry… and occasionally follow her home.

The Resistance: 6.15pm

The Resistance, another true story, unveiled Alice’s remarkable upbringing and the ramshackle childhood home in which she grew up.

Empire: 7.30pm

Empire was a more controversial piece of unpredictably meaningful, narratively unorthodox art-comedy about masculinity, family, quantum physics and Disney villains.

Don’t miss this unique, brilliant and dangerous high-wire act of comedy that will either be a disaster, or the best thing you see this year. Come along and find out.

Ticket holders who attend all three shows will receive a limited, numbered Certificate Of Attendance signed by Alice.

'Wonderfully funny and devastatingly poignant … a show that really could change the world. ★★★★★'  - Broadway Baby (UK)

ALICE FRASER ‘ETHOS’:  Introducing the first ever human/Artificial Intelligence double act on the comedy circuit!

Award-winning writer, broadcaster and comedy performer (as well as an ex-corporate lawyer) Alice Fraser explains art, sex, money, nuclear brinksmanship, the term “problematic”, conflict, kindness, class and cultural hypocrisy to a non-human intelligence (who has read her reviews). This is a silly, funny and smart show that explores what it is to be human.

Alice Fraser is an award-winning writer, broadcaster and comedy performer (and an ex-corporate lawyer). Her solo shows Empire, The Resistance, and Savage, have all received four and five star reviews at festivals across the world including Sydney (nominated for Best Newcomer at Sydney Comedy Festival 2013), Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, New Zealand and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She has given a TEDx talk about vanity in the face of death, debated the power of the media against Julian Assange at Splendour in the Grass and once did a gig in a Butcher’s shop next to a rotating meat display that was much more stressful than either of those things. The Resistance was filmed and broadcast by ABC Australia as part of their Comedy Next Gen series. Alice is a regular co-host on The Bugle podcast and appears on the BBC Radio 4 series Welcome To Wherever You Are.
